Australia have pulled a shock move with selection for the fifth Test, recalling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for a game the team must win to secure their first series victory in 18 years.
Selectors have opted for the extra bowling depth Marsh provides in order to better manage the workloads of their frontline quicks.
Marsh replaces co-vice-captain Travis Head, whose form has tailed away since playing a key role in helping Australia save the second Test at Lord’s.
Gun paceman Pat Cummins has kept his place in the 12-man squad though selectors are yet to make a final call on whether he will play at The Oval after his heavy workload in England.
If he misses, Peter Siddle will come into the XI.
