Formally the club’s vice-captain, Ross spent much of the year as captain due to injuries suffered by skipper Jarryn Geary.

Ross averaged 26 disposals for the season and was incredibly consistent. In 20 of his 22 games, Ross had between 21 and 31 disposals.

“It’s really great to see Seb honoured with his second Trevor Barker Award,” St Kilda coach Brett Ratten said.

“He’s shouldered a lot this season, standing in for Jarryn as acting captain for most of the year, but took it all in his stride.

“He’s a consummate professional and is always the first to lend a hand to his teammates.

“Seb’s a pillar of our group and thoroughly deserves this accolade.”

Marshall was a revelation in 2019, elevating himself to become one of the league’s best big men.

Overlooked for a spot in the Saints’ side for round one, Marshall, 23, went on to play 20 AFL games for the season, averaging just under 17 disposals and more than 28 hitouts per game, signing a three-year contract extension during the year.

Marshall also won the Best Emerging Player Award and the Lenny Hayes Players’ Player Award.

Steele, who generally played on the opposition’s best midfielder, played 20 games, averaging more than eight tackles per match.

The former Greater Western Sydney player had also finished third last year.

“Rowan and Jack have also had outstanding seasons,” Ratten said.

“Rowan has really thrived since moving into the ruck. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and has impressed not only us at the Saints, but many across the competition.

“Similarly, Jack plays on some of the league’s most talented players week-in week-out, rarely lowering his colours.

“They should be extremely proud of themselves and Saints fans should be very excited about their futures.”

First-year defender Callum Wilkie’s impressive first campaign was rewarded with seventh-place.

Geary claimed the Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award.

Ratten was optimistic about the club’s future.

“Looking at the top ten is really encouraging,” Ratten said.

“The average games played of that list is just under 92 games.

“We know we have areas to work on over summer and we can’t wait to get to work.”

The club paid a moving tribute to Frawley as part of the night’s formalities.
