Ten climate activists have locked themselves to a pink catamaran in Brisbane’s CBD on day four of rolling protests by Extinction Rebellion.
About 20 police were working to move the vessel, at the intersection of Elizabeth and George streets on Thursday morning.
Traffic on part of George Street was closed about 7am.
Cars were still able to get along Elizabeth Street, with one lane open to traffic.
Extinction Rebellion, which is demanding 100 per cent renewable energy, giving nature legal rights and the sharing of science, has vowed to hold protests every day in the city this week.
Firefighters were also on scene with power tools, poised to remove the boat as protesters sung “power to the people”.
